Hitech Systems Launches SNARE: A Cost Effective Regional Solution For Forward Thinking Public Safety Agencies

January 9, 2003 (Los Angeles, CA) -- Hitech Systems, a leading public safety software solution provider, announced the rollout of a revolutionary new product, SafetyNet Automated Records Exchange (SNARE).

SNARE facilitates real-time information sharing for multiple agencies through a centralized database, using data from each participating agency's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management System (RMS). Users can access SNARE via a web browser, mobile data, and CAD enabling quick look up of people, vehicles, cases and other information. SNARE is operational with Hitech's SafetyNet public safety software line, and interfaces are available for integration with third party CAD and RMS products addressing the overwhelming requests from outside agencies to join SNARE.

SNARE capitalizes on the power of communication and information exchange, providing secure, real time access to crime-related information as it happens. It fosters cooperation between neighboring agencies while allowing each agency to control what data are shared. SNARE is a cost-effective data sharing solution that can be accessed from all agency departments, from communications to patrol to investigations.

SNARE was developed with the help of six (6) San Francisco Bay Area agencies to solve a problem they have had for years- catching criminals and offenders as they move between jurisdictions. This problem is common in regions comprised of a number of smaller communities. With just a mouse click SNARE is an effective tool for tracking a criminal's behavior patterns. SNARE will provide the name of the investigator working on the case, eliminating hours of phone calls to other departments- enabling law enforcement agencies to work together more effectively to solve crimes.

"SNARE will give us the ability to quickly and easily share data with the agencies around us and significantly increase the number of records we have access to. This has been a concept that we have talked about for years, and although there have been several attempts, this has been the first success," stated Officer Ronda Caine-Alcantara of the Burlingame Police Department. "The beauty of SNARE is that the data is entered once in your own Records System, and from that point forward, SNARE takes care of making sure the data we choose to share is available to other participating agencies- eliminating double entry."

"SNARE utilizes a user-friendly web-based technology that requires little to no training and is available to officers using computers in the station, laptops in the car or even on their Personal Data Assistant (PDA) in the field. SNARE is a plus in today's budget conscious world of law enforcement," adds Officer Caine.

"Following the news of the SNARE project's success in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have received interest from other agencies that are anxious to implement the SNARE solution to support their progressive regional police information networks. We are pleased to see that our SNARE solution fulfills this significant public safety gap at such a low cost," remarked Hitech's Chief Operating Officer, Frank Huybrechts.
